The Hakko 599B Tip Cleaner is the ideal cleaning alternative to the traditional wet sponge. The 599B is made from coils of brass, which is softer than the tip plating yet harder than the oxidation that forms on the tip. The non-abrasive brass shavings is tough enough to scrub residual solder from your soldering tools without your soldering iron becoming cool. To clean the tip, simply plunge (stab) the iron tip into the coils.
