Aurora High Flyer, Kristine Kieper, 2023, wool needle felting, 7 x 5 in. / 17.78 x 12.7 cm.

Based on a photo I took during an intense aurora borealis storm in April 2023 in Northeastern Minnesota. The captured shape resembles a bird, inspiring the title. I added clear and iridescent seed beads to represent some of the more visible stars. Needle felting is essentially painting with fibers.
