IS LEAD CRYSTAL SAFE?

Full lead crystal is a highly sought-after material for its perceived quality and elegance. To be considered full lead crystal, a piece must have at least 24 lead content. However, the presence of bubbles or seeds in the glass can also affect the perceived quality and cost of the crystal. Despite its high lead content, full lead crystal pieces are generally considered safe to use for eating or drinking.

HISTORY of LEADED CRYSTAL

Full lead crystal, also known as lead crystal, was first invented by George Ravenscroft in England in 1676. Ravenscroft was a glassmaker who experimented with different materials to create glass that was more durable and had a higher refractive index than traditional glass. He discovered that adding lead oxide to the glass mixture produced a clear, brilliant glass that was more resistant to scratches and chips. This new glass quickly became popular among the wealthy and was used for fine tableware and decorative objects. Today, full lead crystal is still prized for its beauty and is used by artisans and designers around the world.
