Kutani ware originated as the official kiln of the Maeda Clan in the early Edo period, in the 17th century, and has a history spanning 300 years. Among them, those produced in the first 40 years are called "Ko-Kutani" (old Kutani). These ceramics, were highly valued for their seven-color glaze, incorporating yellow, purple, navy, red, and green, along with underglaze and a rusted edge.?It?is produced in the?city of Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture.
