Sometimes having a device designed to do just one thing, and one thing only, is best. The TP-7 Field Recorder is a perfect example. It has an elegant, minimalist design centered around tactile controls, including a tilting forward/rewind lever on the side and a motorized tape reel that can be used for scrubbing, menu navigation, and as visual feedback. A bright red lamp lights up when recording, whether it be via the internal mic or an external source. Speaking of the latter, the device has three two-way stereo mini jacks in addition to a dedicated main output, a USB-C port, and Bluetooth, with a companion app that offers near-instant transcription. The battery lasts for up to 7 hours per charge, and the device offers 128 GB of internal storage.
